Large footstool (w 70cm x d 7cm x h 40cm)
I found this large footstool in a local brocante, I loved the dimensions of it. It was covered in a tired old tapestry fabric and finished off with a heavy fringing which made it look really dated.
I stripped off the fabric and fringing, and decided to sand down the legs and paint them which I did on a glorious November day outside in the sunshine using the beautiful and classy Farrow and Ball Railings No.31 eggshell paint
The footstool is traditionally upholstered and needed very little remedial work apart from recovering, hand-stitching the corners and hand-tacking a new bottom cloth. I chose the Warwick Fabrics Dugan fabric in the Indigo colour-way, there are three tones of blue highlighted with silver and gold polka dots. This is a really elegant piece that would be a great statement in any room.
